From Virginia’s Kitchen

Dear Friend,

These delicious cupcakes are always a hit with our friends. And their signature red color make them the perfect Valentine’s Day treat. For some extra fun, you can also use conversation hearts for the topping instead of sprinkles. Enjoy!

Red Velvet Cupcakes

1 package German Chocolate cake mix with pudding

1 cup sour cream

1/2 cup water

1/4 cup vegetable oil

1 (1 oz.) bottle red food coloring

3 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 can white frosting

Red or chocolate sprinkles

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 (12-cup) muffin pans with cupcake liners.

2. Mix cake mix, sour cream, water, oil, food coloring, eggs, and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Blend with an electric mixer on low speed. After about a minute, scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula.

3. Increase the mixer speed to medium and beat for an additional 2 to 3 minutes. Pour batter into cupcake liners. Bake as directed on cake package. Cool and frost, then add sprinkles!
