“So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”
– Matthew 24:44
After waiting over an hour for her date to arrive and pick her up, a young woman finally realized that she had been stood up. Frustrated and a little embarrassed, she changed out of her beautiful dress into some old pajamas, let down her hair, grabbed a slice of cold pizza, turned on the TV, and plopped down on the couch where she began to slowly doze off.
Suddenly, a loud knock at the door jarred her awake. It was her date. He looked at her in surprise and said, “What! I gave you two extra hours and you’re still not ready to go?”
Every day we live that Jesus doesn’t return is an extra hour He’s given us to get ready for that glorious moment. So are you living ready for His return?
Do you speak to your neighbor about God’s love? Do you forgive easily knowing the time is short? Do you pray often for those who don’t yet know Christ?
We must learn to see every day as an opportunity from God to live ready – preparing our hearts to meet Him and striving to help others prepare theirs.
Prayer Challenge:
Pray that God would give you a sense of urgency to make each day count for His Kingdom.
