You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. — 1 John 4:4
Pastor Charles Swindoll tells of a gentleman he knew who served on one of Walt Disney’s original advisory boards. He once told him how persistent Disney was when he was faced with disagreement. Walt would present some unbelievable dream he was entertaining, and the board members would stare at him in disbelief.
But Disney always knew his idea was a good one when every member resisted the idea. And if he wasn’t met with any resistance, he usually didn’t pursue it. The challenge wasn’t big enough to merit his time and creative energy unless it was met with resistance!
In much the same way, the enemy will come against you when what you’re doing is the will of God. He knows when you’re infringing on his territory, and will oppose you at every turn if he can. So if you’re doing the will of God, get ready for a fight!
Every time you step out in faith and do something great, it’s going to be met with resistance. If it’s not, then it may not be as great as you thought. So persevere to accomplish God’s purposes, knowing that in Him, you have the power to overcome the enemy and accomplish His will for your life!
Pray that, by God’s power, you would be able to overcome the enemy’s resistance as you follow God’s will for your life.
