For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.— Hebrews 4:12
It happens to us all at one time or another…
You’re in a situation where you’re talking to someone and discover you both have a common acquaintance. But as the person begins to talk about your common friend, you notice they have a different idea of who that person is.
Maybe it’s a person you’re close with and deeply respect, but it becomes clear they aren’t as close with them and have a lower opinion. Or perhaps it’s someone with whom you’ve had a strained relationship – but they think they hung the moon.
Now whether or not you’re right about the person doesn’t matter. The point is that it’s possible to know the same person without truly knowing the same person.
This is the same with God’s Word. It’s easy to know Scripture – Satan even quoted Scripture to Jesus! But truly knowing Scripture depends on how much value you ascribe to it and whether or not you let it transform your life.
Don’t get by just knowing about God’s Word. Get to truly know it in a deep, meaningful way – and let it transform your life!
