This is good news!

But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.” — Luke 2:10

Do you remember the holiday classic, A Charlie Brown Christmas?

It tells the charming story of poor Charlie Brown’s crusade to discover what Christmas is really about. After a series of setbacks including receiving no Christmas cards, failing miserably to direct the school’s Christmas pageant, and nearly killing the tattered tree he’d worked so hard to decorate, Charlie Brown finally gives up on his quest in despair.

But everything changes when his friends gather round him and begin singing these powerful words…

“Hark! the herald angels sing,
glory to the newborn King!
peace on earth, and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled
joyful all ye nations rise
join the triumph of the skies
with th’angelic host proclaim
‘Christ is born in bethlehem.’
Hark! the herald angels sing
glory to the newborn King!”

Do you feel a bit like Charlie Brown this Christmas? Are you overwhelmed by all that’s going on in the world? Are you tired, frustrated, or maybe just lonely?

Don’t give into despair; because the story of Christmas is not just the celebration of God’s grace in the past, it’s an ongoing celebration of His work today through the Gospel.

Christmas was just the beginning of God’s mighty work of redemption. The story’s not over – and you’re part of it. So rejoice and let your life show a watching world what Christmas is truly about as you point them to the living Christ.
