Kindness goes a long way

“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” — Colossians 3:12

Mamie Adams always went to a branch post office in her town because the postal employees there were friendly. She went there to buy stamps just before Christmas one year and the lines were particularly long. Someone pointed out that there was no need to wait in line because there was a stamp machine in the lobby. “I know,” said Mamie, “but the machine won’t ask me about my arthritis.”

Simple acts of kindness go a long way to brighten someone’s day. Even better, they express God’s love in tangible ways.

As our culture grows more technological and people seem increasingly isolated from one another, it’s so important for God’s people to reach out and build relationships through kindness.

Your encouraging words or simple concern for the people you meet throughout the day might be the lifeline of hope they desperately need. And remember, the reason you’re able to love others so well is because you yourself are holy and dearly loved by God.

So be a blessing today and brighten someone’s life with your kindness!
