Be comforted!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

A young boy was sent to the corner store by his mother to buy a loaf of bread. He was gone much longer than it should have taken him. So when he finally returned, his mother asked, “Where have you been? I’ve been worried sick about you.”

“Well,” he answered, “there was a little boy with a broken bike who was crying. So I stopped to help him.” “I didn’t know you knew anything about fixing bikes,” said his mother.

“I don’t,” the little boy replied. “I just sat there and cried with him.”

Are you crying today or do you know someone who is?

Be encouraged because we do not serve a God who’s unacquainted with our pain and struggles. God did not stand far off and offer overtures of love to a hurting world. No, He entered into our pain – taking on flesh and becoming like us so that He could save us.

That’s the God who holds out His arms to you today, the God of all comfort. So whatever pain you’re carrying or whatever troubles you’re experiencing, cast yourself into the arms of your heavenly Father.

And then be empowered by His love for you as you reach out and comfort those around you today!
