“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” – John 14:1–3
A man walked into his doctor’s office for a regular visit, and he noticed a brand-new fish tank had recently been installed. The water was crystal clear. The fish were so colorful and exotic looking. He was mesmerized as he watched the fish swim.
Then he started thinking about what a sad existence those fish had. They were stuck in that nice, expensive tank with nowhere to go. They would probably spend their entire fish lives in that very nice tank, chasing each other and waiting for the next time they’d be fed.
The man thought, “That’s what life is like without God.”
God has created us for much more than just existence here on earth. And the very fact that we can think about a life beyond this one is a testament to His eternal plans for us.
So don’t get discouraged when your “fish tank” isn’t everything you want – or even if it is. There will come a day when God will reach down, take you out of it, and bring you into your eternal home!
