Because He lives

“But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives, and he will stand upon the earth at last.”– Job 19:25

When the great scientist from the 1800s, Sir Michael Faraday was at the end of his life, he gave a final interview with some journalists who questioned him about life, and his speculations about what would await him after death.

“Speculations!” he said, “I know nothing about speculations. I’m resting on certainties. I know that my Redeemer liveth, and because He lives, I shall live also.”

The truth is that each of us, one day, will walk through the door of eternity. It will either happen because our life on earth has come to an end – or it will be because of the return of Jesus. Either way, each of us should aspire to face eternity with the same confidence.

This is the hope of the resurrection. If Jesus were still in the grave, you’d have no hope for eternal life. But because He lives, you can walk through the door of eternity with confidence, knowing that His resurrection is proof that you will also live forever by faith in Him.

Don’t fear eternity. In the resurrection of Christ, you have the promise and proof of an incredible life to come!
