Three ways you can hold fast to Jesus
Life’s journey often takes us through difficult terrain. Drawn from Psalm 84:5-7, here are three thoughts to help you persevere when the going gets tough.
First, remember you’re “just passing through”: “Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.” (Psalm 84:5)
Just as the psalmist is journeying to Jerusalem, so we are on our way to the New Jerusalem, and our hearts are to be “set on pilgrimage.”
Like the old song goes, “This world is not my home, I’m just a-passing through.” We won’t be in this broken world forever. So take heart – and remember you’re heading for a place where there’ll be “no more death or mourning or crying or pain” (Revelation 21:4).
Second, know that tears can be used for good: “As they pass through the Valley of Baka [or Weeping], they make it a place of springs…” (Psalm 84:6)
God knows your pain and He sees your tears. Never forget He walks alongside you in the Valley of Weeping. Which means that times of great heartache can also be times when you prove His faithfulness like never before.
Third, we’re promised grace for today and bright hope for tomorrow! “They go from strength to strength till each appears before God in Zion.” (Psalm 84:7)
Like the Israelites feeding daily on manna from heaven, we must learn to depend each day on God’s grace – which He promises is all-sufficient to meet every need!
And any gift you’re able to send today will reach out to others who deeply need the Lord’s help to persevere. This vital ministry can only continue through the generosity of friends like you – so please give as best as you’re able today.
Thank you for helping more seniors persevere in Christ and embrace the life He intends!
