2020 Vision: Where Senior Living Ministries is headed in the new year

By Michael Risley

How our leadership is rejoicing in all the Lord has been doing in Senior Living Ministries this past year! Here’s a glimpse of how He is working through the faithful support of friends like you to encourage and inspire more seniors:

  • 17,000 seniors are receiving our daily devotionals.
  • 25,000 seniors are engaging with us on Facebook.
  • Over 200 seniors a month are involved in our prayer ministry.
  • Our email list has increased by 82% and our website traffic has grown over 400%.
  • We have begun printing books to help train seniors in living boldly for Christ.

Praise the Lord! He is truly the giver of every good gift (James 1:17).

So as we look to a new year, I want to quickly remind you of our shared mission – why we are doing what we are doing.

The mission of Senior Living Ministries is to help senior adults embrace a thriving relationship with Jesus Christ and a purposeful lifestyle of serving others for Christ.

We concentrate on four specific areas:

  1. A clear GOSPEL presentation and assurance of salvation
  2. BIBLICAL DEVOTIONALS
  3. PRAYER opportunities
  4. Engagement in a CHRIST-CENTERED PURPOSE

Together, we’ve seen incredible success in two out of the four areas of our concentration: our biblical devotions and our prayer ministry. In this coming year, we hope, by God’s grace, to grow stronger in the other two areas of concentration: sharing the gospel and developing a Christ-centered purpose.

Here’s how I believe God can work through us to accomplish that in the new year:

To reach more seniors with the Good News of Jesus Christ, we’ve put together a new video that you can find at the bottom of our website’s homepage. This short video clearly explains the gospel and invites seniors to know Christ, be assured of their salvation, and grow in their relationship with Jesus. I pray this video not only encourages you in your faith, but also helps you invite others to find life in Christ as well.

To help more seniors gain a Christ-centered purpose for every stage of life, we have added another tool to our website called “Ways to Serve” in our Resource Library. Visitors to the page can read the article entitled “Live Your Purpose: YES Ministry” to be connected to an incredible ministry directed by some friends of mine. We hope to use the YES Ministry website as a way to challenge ourselves and provide opportunities to use our lives for a Christ-centered purpose.

As I close, let me share a passage that will inspire and guide you as you seek to live for the Lord this coming year: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

God has so much in store for you and our mission together in the year ahead, so let’s trust Him together and embrace the life He intends!

And if you’re led to give a gift here to help more seniors embrace the life God intends, we’ll say thanks by sending you a copy of our BRAND-NEW book, 30 Days to Prayerful Living.
