Keep talking!

I proclaim your saving acts in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, LORD, as you know. I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and your saving help. I do not conceal your love and your faithfulness from the great assembly. — Psalm 40:9-10

An elderly minister had just had all of his remaining teeth pulled and new dentures made. Upon returning to the pulpit after his procedure, his congregation noticed a strange pattern.

The first Sunday, he preached only 10 minutes. The second Sunday, he preached only 20 minutes. But on the third Sunday, he preached a solid 2 hours.

When asked about this, he said, “The first Sunday, my gums were so sore it hurt to talk. The second Sunday, my new dentures were hurting a lot. And the third Sunday, I accidentally grabbed my wife’s dentures and couldn’t stop talking!”

When it comes to Word of God – His goodness, His grace, and His love – we should never stop talking. Remember how eagerly the crowds listened to Jesus teach about the Kingdom of God. It was water for their weary souls.

And you have that same River of Life flowing in you through Jesus Christ! So don’t hesitate to declare God’s goodness and truth today. Your words will speak salvation to the lost and encouragement to the Church, and you’ll find they will bring joy to your soul!
