It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak…— 2 Corinthians 4:13
There is a tale told of the great English stage actor, William Macready. One day, an eminent preacher asked him,
“What is the difference between you and me? You appear before crowds night after night with fiction, and the crowds come wherever you go. Yet I am preaching the essential and unchangeable truth of God, and I am not getting any crowd at all.”
Macready answered,
“That’s quite simple. I present my fiction as though it were truth; you present your truth as though it were fiction.”
When it comes to presenting the gospel, many Christians lack the confidence in their own message to effectively communicate it to others. They don’t truly see it as the life-transforming message it is, only a good idea to live by. But the reality is that the gospel has earth-shaking implications, and must be shared with a dying world!
If you want to get better at sharing your faith, start by really believing it first. Ask God to solidify His Word in your heart. Spend time reading the Bible daily. Then you’ll have the confidence and clarity you need to share the gospel with the world!
