Ordinary to extraordinary

We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin. For when we died with Christ we were set free from the power of sin.— Romans 6:6–7

There’s a story about an alcoholic man who heard the gospel and began following Christ. One day, he went to see one of his old drinking buddies and told him about the big change that had happened in his life.

His buddy replied, “You don’t really believe all that nonsense, do you? I mean, how can you honestly think Jesus turned water into wine?”

“Well,” the man replied, “I sure do believe it because in our house Jesus changed my whiskey into furniture!”

Things change when you come to Christ. You’re no longer enslaved to sin, but you’re set free from sin and bound to Jesus. It’s a beautiful exchange – and those who’ve truly experienced it will never want to go back.

The abundance Christ gives you is so much better and more satisfying than what the world offers. So, don’t settle for what’s second best. Put your faith firmly in Christ, follow Him wholeheartedly, and watch as He exchanges the ordinary things of life for something extraordinary!

Prayer Challenge

Pray that your focus in life will be pursuing the things of Christ – not to find fulfillment in the things of the world.
